Interview Frank Pitters from Dignity. (September 15th, 2008)

Hi, first off all I just want to congratulate you with your debut album “Project Destiny”.

I think it’s a great album but how do you feel about it?

Frank: First of all thanx for your warm words. It feels great because Roland and I worked really hard to realize this band. We put a lot of energy in this album and we are really happy how things turned out. Roland also quit his former band Edenbridge to focus totally on his new band Dignity. It was the right step because now we all can concentrate on Dignity!!

How has “Project Destiny” been received by the media?

Frank: Very good so far. We got a lot positive respones from all over the world. It was great to read that we also got such a positive review from your page. Thanks for that. All this positive responses helps a lot staying self confindent and continue with great power on the way we have chosen with our music!

How did you get your name DIGNITY?

Frank: The band name was Roland’s idea. He preferred not to use common terms like ‘sword’ or ‘dragon’, but opted for a short, powerful name that is also easy to remember. We liked the meaning of the word!

How would you describe your music to any of our readers who may not have heard of you before?

Frank: It’s always hard for a band to describe their own music. Also I dont like categorys, because than you are always compared with other bands. All people that like Heavy Metal should listen to our records, than they have a big chance to discover a great new band...haha!

Which bands from then and from nowadays have their influence on your music?

Frank: One of the best things with Dignity is that all our band members have very different musical backgrounds. John Boy for example come from the punk scene, Martin from the 80s Metal scene, Roland also like modern Metal like Disturbed and Jake and I listen a lot to Hard Rock or Melodic Metal. So we have a huge pool where we can take our influences of when it comes to songwriting and arranging. This really helps keeping songwriting interesting.

Who has produced and mixed the album?

Frank: Roland and me produced the album. During the recordings we cogitated a lot of who could mix the album. We dont wanted a mixer that is famous for mixing music we make. I mean melodic metal and hard rock stuff. We wanted someone that has a different background and Jonas was perfect for this job. He comes from the death metal and thrash metal scene. And he impressed us a lot with his work of Scar Symmetry. And after meeting with him we knew we had made the right descission. Jonas is a really funny guy with an absolut super intuition for music. Without him the mix would not sound like it is now!

My favourite songs could very well be; “Dreams Never Die” and “Project Destiny”.

Are there any songs that are special to you?

Frank: All songs are special but when I have to pick one out, than I would choose Icarus. It was the first song that we wrote for the album and its very ols. Another version of this song can be heard on the record of my first band Invictus!

What tasks presently lie ahead for you?

Frank: At the moment we are doing a lot of promotion work for the album. Then we hope to go on a tour to promote this album, because we want to go out on the streets and play. We are not a studio project and we want to perform out music for our fans. We also started with the song writing with the next album, ‘cause we want the next album being released same time next year!

Let's speculate - you have been granted a free slot on a tour of your own choice - who would be your ideal touring partners?

Frank: It would be great going on tour with Edguy or Hammerfall. But any tour that comes is a great experience and we are all looking forward to realize this plan!

Any last words for our readers?

Frank: Hope to see you on tour soon in Denmark to have a good time and enjoy our show! Check out our website www.dignityband.com for tourinformation and leave a comment in our guestbook!

Thanx for your support!!
