- Hi, first off I just want to congratulate you on your new album
“Organic Halllucinosis”. To new fans could your please fill us
in on the history behind it all?
Covan - Hi To you all guys. Thank you very much for kind words.
“Organic Hallucinosis” was recorded last summer at Hertz
studios in
Bialystok
Poland
. We worked with Wieslawcy brothers who were recording previous
Decapitated albums. We had one month booked for recording but
actually some vocal parts and all the solos by Vogg were recorded
later after return from the European tour. Maybe interesting thing
was that most of the songs and tracks were done in studio. It was
like working on puzzles or building hallucinogenic structure. The
band did not rehearsal before going to studio.

– Thomas, who has reviewed your album, calls it: “32 minutes
of relentless death metal battery from four Polish guys who
obviously never considered letting steam out.” Can you agree on
this description?
Covan - NO I would call it
“32 minutes of relentless tripping hallucinogenic metal focused
on mind spheres dedicated to open minded maggots. But say thanks
to Thomas, his sentence is cool.

- “Organic Halllucinosis” will
be released shortly, what kind of expectations do you have for it?
Covan - Personally I don’t have any expectations. I only
hope some people will like it.
Powermetal.dk
- I know artists don’t like to put a label on their music –
Thomas describes it as: “You hear echoes of the technical
brutality of Death, Pestilence and Carcass in Decapitated’s work
– and add a stint of Napalm Death.” – do you think he has
hit it spot on?
Covan - We have to ask the fans what they think.
Powermetal.dk
- Do you feel that your
sound will evolve in some different direction, in the future, or
you will still follow the same path?
Covan It’s like in life. You are born. You grow. You
learn lot of things. Your life experience evolves…it’s the
same in music. From album to album you want to do things better
way. Different way or the way it will satisfy you personally.
Powermetal.dk
- If you should suggest one single song to understand the full Decapitated
musical potential, which title would you choose and why?
Covan - It would be “Spheres of Madness” this is the
song that shows what the band can do. I like “Day” 69 from new
album as well. It’s new look at the sound.
Powermetal.dk
- Who has produced and mixed the album? Are you pleased with the
result?
Covan - It was recorded in Hertz studios by Slawek and
Wojtek Wieslawscy. I think they did a good job. Album was produced
by Vogg and Wieslawscy brothers. It’s always fun and really
pleasure to work with them.
Powermetal.dk
- Who has done the artwork? And how important do you feel it is to
have a great cover?
Covan - It was done by
Seth from
Greece
known from covers for Paradise Lost, Lost soul, Dimmu Borgir and
lots of other famous artists. You know the most important thing is
sound…layout, graphics are on the third position. I know that
its part of attraction but sometimes there is great layout /cover
but the music is shit. As a band we don’t pay too close
attention to graphics.

- Any touring plans for 2006?
Covan - For now we know that in May we start
UK
tour. Then France and rest of the
Europe
. There will be some festivals in summer. That what I can now say
but I don’t have schedule now so you have to check new
Decapitated web page www.decapitatedband.net for details.
Powermetal.dk
- Let’s speculate – you have been granted a free slot on a
tour of your own choice – who would be your ideal touring
partners?
Covan - Anybody that is
normal human being. Not egoists. For
me the thing that counts is friendship, tolerance and helping hand,
not musical skills, material status, and colour of skin or
sexuality.
Powermetal.dk
- Name a person, event or maybe an album, that have
had a big influence on you life, and why?
Covan - First war in
Kuwait
. Meeting Chechen refugees and they witnessing they tragedy.
Powermetal.dk
- The internet is a very important source for many metal fans –
how do you use the internet and how important is it for you and
other bands?
Covan - Internet is like
zines and magazines in early 80 ties. It’s very important
because you can let people faster and better about your plans or
events. You can promote yourself the cheapest way and keep in
touch with people in other countries just by clicking the button
“send” or “receive”. The future is in Internet and
computers if you want it or not.
Powermetal.dk
- And how do you feel about the metal scene in
Poland
at the moment?
Covan - It’s bigger
everyday. Plenty of bands and plenty of new coming bands that will
really arise in couple of years. I hope its going to be that way
and other bands from my country will have opportunity to play in
N&S America, Europe,
Asia, Africa or North pole.;-)

- I thank you very much for participating in this interview and sharing this
information and your thoughts with us - these last lines are
entirely for you. Any final words you would like to round off with?
Covan - I thank you
too!!! It was pleasure. What can I say? Everything was said. I
hope that one person at least will touch our new hallucinogenic
stuff. Come visit us on our new web page. Be yourself and support
your local bands!!! They need you. Cheers!!!!!!!!!
