1.
Hi, first off I just want to congratulate you on your new album. To
new fans could your please fill us in on the history behind it all?
Bruno
- Thank you very much for the congratulations.
The band history started in 1989 in Bayreuth. Our first Maxi "Satanische
Verse" came out in the same year and was released on my own
label Danse Macabre. Our debut-album "Propheten" also came
out in 1989. We always tried to mix up symphonic-electronic
arrangements with industrial elements. All together we already
released 15 albums. After "Propheten" came
"Stigma", "Staub", "Die Liebe" (with
Atrocity), "Egodram",
"Das Innere Ich", "Rekapitulation", "Morgue"
(music to the lyrics of Gottfried Benn), "Relaborat",
"Antichrist", "Relikt" (best of) and now
"Lava".
2.
How has your new album been received by the media?
Stefan
- We were very surprised about the reaction of all
magazines and stuff, because everybody liked it from the first
moment. Normally there were always some people, who were
disappointed in any way. So we are very happy this time.
3.
I know artists are not happy to categorize their music, but how
would you describe your music to an outsider?
Stefan
- The most common term for our music is "gothic-industrial
with symphonic harmonies".
4.
Where does your inspiration come from, both musically and lyrically?
Bruno
- We always try to express our feelings we have in our lives. I
do it with music, Stefan with lyrics. Everybody needs a channel to
express himself. So we have to be thankful to have found our ones.
5.
What topics do you deal with in your lyrics and why?
Stefan
- There are always problems we have in this world. Some people
get angry about that, some depressive, and we try to talk about all
negative stuff of this world to be able to live without these
feelings for a while.
6.
Who has produced and mixed the album, and are you pleased with the
end result?
Bruno
- The producing and mixing I was doing by myself, like on quite
all the other albums. I also do mixings and producing for other
bands, so I think I can listen quite neutral to the stuff I did by
myself. I'm sure every producer will find something in his work
after some while, which he coud have done better, but at the moment
I'm satisfied.
7.
Who has done the artwork? And how important do you feel it is to
have a great cover?
Bruno
- The artwork was also done by myself with a little help of my
wife.
I think it should not be as important as it is, because music is the
thing we are doing. But artwork is also a very creative thing, for
what you also have to take your time. I always try my best, so I
hope you like it...
8.
Do you have any touring plans?
Bruno
- This year we've already been touring throuh Portugal, Italy,
Spain, Scandinavia and Germany. But there are some more dates planed
in Russia, South America and maybe Israel. Also in Germany are some
more dates.
9.
How do you feel about the co-operation with your label, and are you
satisfied?
Stefan
- We have a very good relationship with Massacre especially with
our promoter Thomas. And also with Stephan from True Promotion. So
we are really satisfied to work with these great guys.
10.
The internet is a very important source for many metal fans - how do
you use the internet and how important is it for you and other
bands?
Bruno
- Of course in these days it is very important to be represented
in the internet via homepage. We are living in the time of
computers, that's a fact.
Of course I also use the internet for news and shopping, but most of
the time I'm arguing about that whole stuff, because it makes so
much stress, when it does not work in the way it should. With all
the spam-shit and virus-stuff it makes you crazy!!!
11.
How do you see the metal scene at the moment?
Stefan
- I think there are some interesting bands coming up at the
moment, who combine gothic with metal.
12.
To finish things off - could you pls. make a all-time Top 5 or sort
of the 5 most important albums in your opinion?
Bruno
-
Thanx
to Bruno
& Stefan for taking the time to answer my questions.
Also a big thanx to
Claus (Intromental) for setting up the interview.
