RATING:

Unified is the second instalment of the collaboration between vocalist Michael Sweet (Stryper) and guitarist George Lynch (Lynch Mob, ex-Dokken). Along for the ride are two other hard rock veterans: bassist James Lomenzo (ex-Megadeth, ex-White Lion etc.) and drummer Brian Tichy (The Dead Daisies, ex-Whitesnake), so the basics are clearly in place for classic hard rock made in the US of A.

And their sound is solid founded in the classic rock of the 70s and the US hard rock scene of the 80s, so that alone should appeal to most hard rock fans on this planet. George Lynch is well know for his splendid guitar work and he has plenty of room to shine on this album also, but this is a team effort and he’s not stealing the light from the others.

Michael Sweet has a voice that will always divide people; I have always liked his high-pitched voice and he delivers another great performance on Unified and the rhythm section is tight and lays a solid foundation for another cool hard rock album. Musically they stay on the path they went down on their debut album Only to Rise (2015), only this time it feels more complete and sounds just a little bit better…

Unified is an more than respectable outing from Sweet & Lynch, rock solid with many fine hard rock tunes that surely will get many well-deserved spins in the houses of hard rock fans all over the world.

Best moments: ‘Walk’, ‘ Unified’, ‘Bridge of Broken Lies’ and ‘Better Man.

When I kicked this site off back in 2003, I had no idea that it would turn into what it has become. I am very proud of what we've done and achieved over the years. Musically I have a soft spot for 80s inspired hard rock, but my favourite music and bands are all to be found in the progressive universe these days.
